Inside Stateroom
Description – Cabin 4144 - Queen Mary 2 |
This is a
personal review of an Inside Stateroom 4144. |
·
Your cabin steward is here to make your voyage as wonderful for you as
possible. Please be respectful and kind to stewards. They work exceedingly
hard. |
·
There should be robes and slippers
in the closet. If they are not there, you can ask your cabin steward. |
·
You can always ask your cabin steward for the following: extra towels
- more hangers (wood and/or wire); and to remove wood hangers (they take up a
lot of space in the closet) – different pillows, such as down, etc. – top
sheet for the bed – remove heavy comforter and replace with a lighter blanket
– additional blanket if cold - remove coffee/tea service if you are not going
to use it – remove robes if you will not be using them – if the bed is too
soft, you can request a board to make it harder – also, a bucket of ice. |
·
You can request to have a standing order for coffee/tea service and/or
breakfast to be delivered to your room at a time you like – just remember to
ask for coffee/tea, what type of creamer/milk you would like and sweetener
type. |
·
There is complimentary room service menu that is available all day. |
·
If you want the New York Times or the US Times - you have to ask your
cabin steward – they no longer just leave them in every cabin (saving paper
waste). |
·
Remember to place the card “Please Make Up Stateroom” or “Privacy
Please” when leaving your cabin in the morning. Also, please turn off all the
lights. |
·
There is a king size bed that can be converted into twin beds. |
·
There is a hair dryer in the top drawer of the cabinet next to the
desk in each stateroom. There is a flat screen TV in each cabin. It is
sitting on top of the counter next to the desk (wish this was mounted on the
wall to free up space on the counter). |
·
There is a small refrigerator next to the desk. There are two drawers
on one side and a center drawer for the desk. In the desk drawer are a
pencil, note pad, foldable ship's map, Room Service Menu, and a booklet of
Guest Services. Envelopes and stationery can be obtained at the Purser's
Office. There is a small ledge on top of the desk and a large mirror. |
Electrical Outlets |
·
Behind the TV are 2 US 110 outlets – at the desk are 2 UK outlets and
2 US outlets – there is a telephone jack and telephone (I would like this
attached to the wall to free up space on desk). |
·
Internet is great since they updated the service. Satellite TV with
music channels – wish they showed more current movies. The guide they give
you is hard to follow. Would like to see some other new stations included in
the lineup. |
·
Next to the bathroom door is the control for the air conditioning and
heat which you can adjust. |
·
The walls are made of steel – so bring magnets to attach the daily
program, pictures, etc. - as well as magnetic hooks for extra hanging space. |
·
In the ceiling along with lights, there is smoke detector, sprinkler,
and speakers. |
·
There is a full-length mirror in the hallway. |
·
The inside cabins are slightly smaller than the balcony cabins. The
main difference is that they do not have a small sofa/couch. They have one
chair and a small table. The height of the table is adjustable. It is set at
cocktail table height. When the metal handle underneath the top is
compressed, you can raise it up to dining table height. There is also a desk
chair. |
·
Cabins on Deck 4 on the forward part of the ship may hear noise from
the Royal Court Theater below. This is not bothering us. |
·
Air conditioning works really well. |
Inside Stateroom Lighting |
·
There is a switch by the entry door that controls the 3 overhead
lights. |
·
There is a lamp on the wall by the desk. |
·
Each bedside table has a lamp attached. There are 2 recessed lights
over the bed in the bulkhead. There are 2 recessed lights in the open shelf
above the bed. |
·
On each side of the bed, there is switch that controls the main lights
and one side also controls the recessed lights over the bed. |
Storage |
·
There is one single door hanging closet and a double door hanging
closet. There is a shelf above each one. There is a large closet with 4
shelves – one that hold the life vests; one that holds the safe which you can
program with your own code; and two shelves for storage. There are 4 drawers
for storage. Each bedside table has a drawer and an open shelf below. |
·
Above the bed in the inside cabinets are two open shelves and two
enclosed shelves. Suitcases can be stored under the bed. |
Bathroom |
·
The light switch is just outside the door. There are two outlets in
the bathroom (on the light fixture over the mirror) – one for 115 volts and
one for 230 volts. These are to be used for shavers only. There is a cabinet
under the sink with two shelves. There are two corner shelves mounted on the
wall. They provide 2 water glasses in a wall bracket and two soap dishes
mounted to the wall. They provide Penhaligon’s Quercus Hand and Body Lotion,
Liquid Soap, Shampoo, and Bath and Shower Gel. There is no hair conditioner,
but you can ask for it. You can ask for a soap bar as well. They also have
Q-tips and cotton balls. There is a mounted tissue box and a mounted waste
basket. There are 2 hooks on the door to hang the towels. There are racks
mounted above the toilet to hold clean towels, and two mounted on the side
wall for wash cloths and for hand or bath towels. |
·
There is a fluorescent-type light over the mirror over the sink -
there is a small, recessed light in the ceiling. |
·
The walk-in shower has a corner rack to hold the shampoo and bath and
shower gel. The shower head is a hand wand and is detachable. The shower head
can be adjusted for height. There is a shower curtain. There is no light in
the shower. There is a retractable clothes line in the shower. Simply pull
the line across and insert into the bracket. If you want to tighten the line,
turn the thumb screw clockwise, which is on the base unit. |
·
The shower will leak onto the bathroom floor if the curtain is outside
the sill – place the floor mat as close to the shower as you can! |
·
In some cabins, you will find a bottle cap opener on the door jamb -
really annoying. |
Laundry Room |
·
There are free washers and dryers available for use along with free
laundry detergent and an iron. Laundry is open from 7:30 AM to 9:30 PM on
several different decks. Please be respectful of the other guests on board
and do not remove their wash or dried items before the cycle is finished. I
would suggest that you do not remove any clothes from a washer and place them
in a dryer, as some items cannot be dried in a dryer. If the dryer cycle has
finished and you want to use that dryer, I would suggest that you remove and
fold the clothing and place in one of the baskets that are in the laundry
room. If you do not want to do this, please leave the clothes in the dryer.
Please remember to return to the laundry room very close to when your clothes
will be finished washing and drying. This will make everyone happy. |

Queens Room |
